The perfect day
We booked a November trip for a group of friends and had a blast. Nico was our driver and guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable and full of hood info, both about the Willamette Valley and Portland. We would definitely book again with this company.
cokelite 2022-11-14 Great day of wine!
We had a private tour with a group of 8. This was a great experience from start to finish. We opted for the deluxe tour so they took care of everything. They chose the wineries, provided lunch, and just made sure we didn’t have to lift a finger. Two of the wineries were home runs. Though we weren’t impressed with the third winery, the guide recognized the situation and took us to an unscheduled stop which totally made up for it. We got plenty of good information without being overwhelmed with chatter. We had a lot of good laughs and great wine. We will definitely be calling them again on our next trip to the Willamette Valley.

What a great day! The schedule was all planned out & we were able to try 3 wineries that were new to us. Our guide, Andy, was able to answer all of our questions - not only about the wineries, but also about the area. He was helpful & fun to be with - yet gave us time to enjoy the experiences on our own. A very good day & highly recommended.

GREAT time with Backcountry Wine Tours. They took the time to ask about our wine interests and created a wonderful experience, including shuffling around to manage hotel pickups when plans changed unexpectedly. Thank you!
DrOdette 2022-10-22 Our 3rd or 4th time using Backcountry Wine Tours. This experience was just like the rest; fantastic!
Jack planned a perfect day for us based on our preferences and past experiences. Aron was our tour guide/driver. He text me the morning of our tour, and arrived on time to the AirBnB we were staying at in McMinnville.Aron was awesome. Cordial, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. Just a genuinely good guy! He’s been in the wine business for a long time and he answered all of our questions; about winemaking, soil types, the history of the Willamette Valley, weather conditions from different years, and the effects on vintages. So much knowledge! We visited three different wineries we’ve never heard of before, which is exactly what we wanted. During our first tasting Aron had us pick our lunch selections from a local sandwich shop. We continued with the tasting and he went to get our lunch. After the tasting, we got to tour the production facility where we met the head winemaker/owner. He showed us grapes in different stages of fermentation, and we had a great conversation about the “science vs. art” of winemaking. So cool. The second winery we visited was again very small. The owner/winemaker was spraying down the floors of the production area as we pulled up. He was our ‘host’ for the tasting. There was no fancy tasting room (no tasting room at all actually). We tasted outside on a picnic table with beautiful landscaping and a terrific view. In between pouring us wine, talking about his operation, and answering our questions, he was filling barrels, which we got to watch. His father was on the tractor out in the vineyard. So cool to see that type of family operation in action. When the owner was away from the table, Aron was next to us talking about the wine, asking us questions, and again dropping knowledge. The wine here was phenomenal. We bought wine from all three stops that day, but bought quite a bit of wine from this one. We told the owner we were looking to buy a couple bottles to lay down from our daughters’ birth-years. He didn’t have anything in a 750ml, but he did have magnums! So we bought one for each of our daughters to open on their 21st birthday. Aron helped confirm that this wine would be a good candidate to lay down for a while, especially in the magnum bottles. That made us feel much more confident in our purchases.I’d write more, but character limits! Cheers Backcountry team! We will be back!

My husband and I began our vacation with a day in the Willamette Valley with Backcountry Wine Tours. The experience exceeded all expectations. Aron was a phenomenal guide and we got to see so many perspectives in the winemaking experience. We can't wait to drink the wines Backcountry helped us ship home and relive the day. We appreciate all Backcountry did to make it a perfect day and a memory for the books!
Molly9221022 2022-10-17 Amazing: Book with Backcountry Today
We booked a private wine tour with Jack and his team. Dillon, our guide took us to three amazing wineries off the beaten path (our request) and not only had wonderful wines, but met the wine makers. Dillon was very knowledgeable of not only the wines and area, but we learned a lot about agriculture in the region too. We'll definitely be back and book with Backcountry again.

We had our second Backcountry Wine Tour day last weekend and it was wonderful! Dillon was a great driver and guide -- very knowledgeable, entertaining and flexible. We visited three lovely wineries which were new to us -- they were different in character and design -- and all places we would go back to. HIGHLY recommend Backcountry Wine Tours!

We had a wonderful day in the Willamette Valley with BackCountry Wine Tours. They really take the time to cater to each group. Their intake form is really geared to ensure the perfect day is planned. The wineries we visited were amazing for their wine, personable hosts and the most amazing views. These were hidden gems that you would not normally stumble across on a DIY wine tasting day. Overall great service - thank you!
